A good man with a gun stands between my family and potential harm, and he does it for free, including nights, weekends, and holidays; that man is me.— Derek Scammon

OH CHL 2010 Second Quarter Statistics Released

My numbers1 differ somewhat from Buckeye Firearms, but I believe that is because I do not know how many licenses have already expired from 2006. I also do not remove those that have their license suspended. Either they will eventually move to “revoked” or they will once again be carry the license. It is a temporary thing. We are off roughly 12k but I think this is close enough.

Concealed carry licenses issued before March 14, 2007 expire four years after issuance. Licenses issued or renewed after that date expire five years after the date of issuance or renewal.

In comparison to first quarter numbers of

  • Total Licenses: 196,2422
  • Percentage of CHL’s: 1.7% 3
  • Percentage of Revoked: little more than half a percent4

We now have

  • Total Licenses: 212,7535
  • Percentage of CHL’s: 1.8%6
  • Percentage of Revoked: Still a little more than half a percent, although it has gone down. Revocation has not kept up with the number issued and renewed.7

On the face of it, we do have some growth. 2010 has already beat 2005, 2006, or 2007’s number of issuance so I will agree that Ohioans are taking back their neighborhoods and sending a message that they will not be intimidated or victimized. We will stand up for ourselves and protect those that we love.
